I don't see how you can be "sucked dry" choosing to buy something you don't need.

I'm thinking about getting this pack actually. Good accidental timing by ANet cause I get paid tonight. I figure I'll let myself buy this on this paycheck instead of something more expensive.
Is this the only thing implemented today, by the way?

MantleCon is this weekend, they probably wanted to roll these out beforehand so those involved could have a blast with the WM costumes.
Oh yeah, obligatory *rollseyes* at people complaining about costumes and microtransactions and such. You don't like 'em, don't pay for 'em, but don't say that we never get any content for free anymore when we have already gotten some new stuff (yeah, no new phat l00t, who cares; Zinn's trial was funny and the SB stuff is exciting to anyone who's paid attention to the story of the game) and they've been flat out telling us for the past week or two that more is on the way. If you want to complain about there not being any new s***, how about waiting until the 5th b-day hits, and we'll see what we get then, eh?
Rahja the Assassin, imo. Looks awesome.

Anet puts effot into Zinn's Trial but doesnt want to balence skills, Anet wants money for costumes (assuming to fund GW2) but does'nt want to keep origonal GW players happy.
Like last year the zashen migraine (GG) waste of money for pet unlocks and not what i would call "Extra Content"
all im saying is....FFS Read The Fan Forums !!!!

I needed the extra storage panes quite badly. Thousands of items in the game, and only 80 storage spaces? Ok. And to have one character of every profession, you have to buy extra character slots. I've sunk nearly $300 into this "free" game, and less than half of that came in a box. But whatever! I don't like the microtransaction trend regardless of how many people beat the "but you don't have to..." dead horse. I didn't have to buy EoTN either, but I did because I want to enjoy everything the game has to offer. It sucks that to do that now you have to get out your credit card, even for silly things like new clothes. Part of the appeal of Guild Wars was that it was free to play and the content updates were also free and frequent - we grew accustomed to it - those times have come and gone and the fact is a lot of people got pissed in the process, regardless of whether or not you agree.

Tempting... I'll buy this if the coming updates are good.
I won't pay for a Costume, but I will pay for a better game.

Because players weren't asking for a place to hold their pets at all, were they?
Also, skill balances are coming. You'll see.

I wasn't real impressed with the costumes at first glance on the gw website. But seeing the screenshots cosy and rahja posted, I rather like them now.

I do love the Shining Blade costume and yes it reminds me of Assassin's Creed also. I love the leather straps and buckles. hehe. The Mantle costume is slightly too top heavy for my taste but otherwise is ok.

Imho they looked far far better on the concept art (see http://www.guildwars.com/warinkryta) than in game or on real screenshots. All 4 of them.
But no matter how awesome they look, I'd never spend money on something like that. Seriously, 2 costumes worth 1/4th of a whole new game's price? (or 100% if you look at discount copies of GW...) Why develop new games when you can sell a couple textures for the old one for $10...

Anyway, I have no beef either way on the micro stuff, I just dont like these two costumes is all

To quote Tony DiNozzo: Not only are you wrong, but you are wrong at the top of your voice.
Yes, GW1 didn't pay for the development of Aion, but then again, that was made by some studio over in Korea. On the other hand, payments since the release of EotN have been going towards the development of GW2... Because they are the same studio. GW2 isnt being made by a different part of NCSoft, as they are the distributors, but by ArenaNet, the same studio behind the first game. To say GW1 content payments arent going to fund GW2's development is like saying WoW payments arent going towards Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo/*insert Blizzard game here*.

You people really need to stop all the complaining. No one is forcing you to buy them. If you don't want them then don't get them! If you can't get them because mommy wont let you use her credit card then I'm sorry for you- but that's no reason to bash on others for buying it.
Havign said that, I'm happy with the Shinning Blade costume. I currently have it dyed white and now my Warrior looks like a Ranger.
Anything to help fund Arena.Net is fine by me (apart from month subscriptions of course >_>).

I'll admit that when I first saw the costumes for more money I wasn't happy, but I gotta admit, I like the look of the female White Mantel costume on my monk...I just wish it didn't have the White Mantel logo on it. I like the costume, but the White Mantel? Not so much.
If I could have gotten armour that looked like this sorta thing years ago it would have been awesome. Now, it's feeling like a little too late.

Moar skill balance, less costumes/marketing ploys.
I'd even "pay" for skill balance... That would be worth my money; a hearty, effective skill balance update!
